Drug Deal gone wrong. |

|
Dear Resident, Yesterday 4th February was a very busy day in Leigh Town Centre with the drinkers and drug users out in force. Leigh Neighbourhood Police Patrols were out both on foot, in Liveried Police Vehicles and also in Plain Vehicles in an attempt to disrupt the actions of suspected Drug Dealing. Early in the afternoon, Officers in a Plain Vehicle saw several Drug Users walking to a location just on the outskirts of the Town Centre. As the patrol attended, Officers witnessed what they felt was a drug Deal taking place. Several Offenders ran off however, three were detained. Of the three, two males were searched but had nothing on them however, a third (female) was searched and initially found to have nothing on her but a more detailed search revealed that she had quite a large amount of Drugs concealed in a very discreet item of clothing. This 27 year old female was then Arrested for Possession with Intent to Supply a Controlled Drug. Drugs have several harmful effects on the community. They often lead to higher crime rates, including theft and violence, as people may turn to illegal activities to support their addiction. Drug use also creates serious health problems, such as overdoses and the spread of disease, which puts pressure on hospitals and emergency services. Families can be torn apart by addiction, leaving children and loved ones struggling. Over time, communities lose their sense of safety and trust, and local businesses may suffer as the area becomes less appealing. Overall, drug use weakens the social and economic stability of a neighbourhood. At least one Drug Dealer is off the streets for a short while, and this goes to show that wherever you hide your Drugs, we will find them!
Take Care!
